The effects of climate change can include wind storms, tornadoes, hurricanes and flooding, all of which have obvious impacts on buildings. However other consequences of global warming, while less dramatic at first glance, can be equally devastating to our homes. For example, expansive soils which dry out and settle as an area warms can cause building foundations to subside or even crack. Melting permafrost can lead to similar outcomes. Trapped moisture caused by the northward expansion of the tropical zone can can encourage mold and rot within the very walls of our houses. John Banta's Extreme Weather Hits Home, just recently off press, shows you how to protect your home or business from climate change. Check it out!
