Any British Columbia readers may be interested in these 2 events - The Great Climate Challenge: Practical Solutions that Work on February 23rd, 2008, 9-5pm at Royal Roads University in Victoria and Building an Ark: 101 Solutions to Animal Suffering on Sunday, February 24th at 1 pm, at the Gabriola Island Community Hall.

The Great Climate Challenge is hosted by Guy Dauncey, author of Stormy Weather, Cancer, Enough Blood Shed and Earthfuture. This one day course addresses the urgent question: what should we do about climate change? It explores the practical details of carbon neutral buildings, energy-efficiency, solar, wind, ocean, hydro and geothermal energy, biofuels, hydrogen, clean coal, electric vehicles, transit, cycling, smart growth, forest solutions, farming solutions, targeted reductions, tax-shifting, carbon taxes, carbon credits, solutions for communities, solutions for churches, colleges and schools, and global solutions. On February 24th at 1 pm at the Gabriola Island Community Hall you can join Ethan Smith, author of Building an Ark: 101 Solutions to Animal Suffering. Ethan will be presenting a 40-minute video/slide overview of the Building an Ark project and a brief background of the book itself, following which the floor will be opened to conversation and discussion. Local animal rescue groups will also be participating.
