Tamara Dean's The Human-Powered Home is off press and receiving rave reviews! The book examines the evolution of human-powered devices and how they are used around the world, and then provides complete plans for a huge variety of projects. You can build a bike-powered blender or grain mill, a treadle-powered water pump and a pedal-powered washing machine. There are also plans for snow plows, electrical generators, tool sharpeners and more.

If you're in the San Francisco area, Tamara will be appearing Sunday, November 16th (that's this weekend) at the San Francisco Green Festival. We'll be there too - be sure to stop by our table and say hi!

Got an idea for your own human-powered device? Tell us about it in the comments below!
