From February 27th to March 2nd, 2009 young people from across North America will converge on Washington D.C. to take a message of bold, comprehensive and immediate federal climate action to Capitol Hill. They want politicians to stand up to the dirty energy lobby and pass the energy and climate policies truly needed. They are calling for politicians elected in November to listen to what science is saying and act immediately to reduce emissions, create jobs and re-engage globally to tackle the climate and economic crises.

Over 10 000 young people have registered for Power Shift '09 , making it the largest lobby day in history. Laura Comer, Power Shift fellow says, "Our movement is so big that we are meeting with our Congress members and Senators on street corners, in parks, in hearing rooms, and on the Capitol Steps- because they simply cannot contain our greatness!!

The four-day summit will be attended by thousands of youth and will include:
Seminars, panels and workshops
A green career fair
Legislative briefings and activist trainings
A day of action, where thousands of youth will flood the halls of Congress to lobby their representatives

Power Shift '09 is organized by the Energy Action Coalition, which has grown over the past four years to include 50 national organizations, over 700 local groups and hundreds of thousands of young people all working together to successfully fight for clean energy solutions, and the creation of new green economy. It takes powerful skills and a toolbag of tricks to lobby effectively. Jason Gandio's Rhetoric for Radicals:A Handbook for Twenty-First Century Activists can help you learn to communicate your message effectively.
