New Society Publishers will be Living the New Economy, November 19-25th at Granville Island, Vancouver, B.C.  For seven days, we will be sharing ideas with the people, institutions and collaborators that are bringing the New Economy to life.

Organized by the Healing Cities Institute, this event is bringing together entrepreneurs, First Nations groups, business leaders, community activists, co-operatives, micro-lenders, artists and other leading thinkers in a grand hands-on experiment about the new economy.  The aim is to investigate alternative ways of exchanging value -- our energy, talents, passion and creativity -- that support our needs, nurture the community and are harmonious with the environment. What are the specific opportunities, skills, resources, and strategies that we can engage now to build a sustainable, healthy economy?

The event will kick off with keynote speaker, Charles Eisenstein on Monday night.  Charles Eisenstein is a teacher, speaker, and writer focusing on themes of civilization, consciousness, money, and human cultural evolution. His books, The Ascent of Humanity and Sacred Economics, as well as his other essays and blog posts on web magazines have generated a vast online following. David Korten, from Ode magazine, called Eisenstein “one of the up-and-coming great minds of our time."

Living the New Economy is a chance to find new collaborations and project partners, accelerate and tune your work to align with your values, be inspired by the ideas of others and unearth new ideas of your own.

At the Fish Bowl event Saturday afternoon, local social entrepreneurs will be pitching their business ideas to "a panel of investment professionals and a cheer leading audience. Think Shark's Tank or Dragon’s Den with empathy."  Three lucky winners will receive a prize of $2500, $1500 or $1000.  The prize money is being raised through a crowdfunding campaign.  And the best part is, for every dollar you donate to the Fish Bowl fundraising campaign, you will receive one dollar of "Seed Stock", Vancouver's first alternative currency.  For more information, check out their video.

New Society Publishers will be operating a book table with a wide selection of our books available for sale including: Occupy Money: Creating an Economy Where Everyone Wins, Humanizing the Economy: Co-operatives in the Age of Capital; The Empowerment Manual: A Guide for Collaborative Groups; Share or Die: Voices of the Get Lost Generation in the Age of Crisis and many more.
