For the 12 days of the sale we will be celebrating "hygge” (pronounced hooga), a  Danish word that loosely translates to "coziness." I like to think of it as a warm hug...one I think we could all use this time of year. Here on the wet...I mean West Coast, we have spent 54 of the last 57 days in the rain!

Winter in Denmark means up to 17 hours of darkness a day, which generally results in more time spent indoors and more focus on home entertaining and “getting comfy.”  Some hygge-like activities may include curling up by the fire, reading a good book, playing board games, eating comfort food, and of course lighting candles. Outdoor hygge activities may include a sleigh ride, or hot tubbing with a hot toddy. And yes, hygge is best enjoyed in a group, with friends and family to stay warm with and to help entertain you through the long winter.

To help you get your hygge on, we’ll be featuring a recipe, craft, or concept that will help you feel all hygge inside. (Sorry but you really can use that word anywhere!)  Look out for hot toddy recipes from Craft Distilling, seasonal activities from The Big Book of Nature Activities, recipes from the Winter Harvest Cookbookand much more on our blog.

Don't forget all books are 35% off from December 1-12th. Just enter Winter2016 at checkout on www.newsociety.com and hit redeem or call 1-800-567-6772 to place your order. Happy hygge!

Oh and here is a short video demonstrating the art of hygge.
