Sorry, this is more fanmail than substance.... I bought "Long Descent" for Kindle and found it to be an amazing book. I had read a number of similar books previously, but this was the best written piece on peak oil and the inevitable decline of industrial civilization. There were many points made that I disagreed with initially, but JMG built his case carefully and conclusively every step of the way. He was SO right I couldn't argue with him. So I bought a whole case of "Long Descent" and gave them away to friends as my birthday present to myself. "Ecotechnic Future" was an excellent follow up, and reshaped my worldview. The Archdruid Report is at the top of my weekly reading list, and I especially enjoy the Green Wizard project. I just received my copy of "The Wealth of Nature" and can't wait to read it.

I so agree with you Keith! I am just re-reading The Ecotechnic Future and getting even more out of it the second time around. I even subjected my son (grade 7) to an additional lesson on "What is Culture". His original list didn't include "memory".

Hi Keith,

Can you see the "keep me updated" button at the top of this discussion? I am not sure if you see the same page I do, but if you do, click this button and you will receive e-mail notifications of new posts.

Keith, thank you! I know that a lot of the ideas that I'm trying to discuss are very counterintuitive for many people in the industrial world these days, and I appreciate your willingness to take the time to grapple with them and reconsider your own ideas. I hope you enjoy _The Wealth of Nature_!

EJ, Sorry, but there is no "keep me updated" link on the NSP fora, at least that I have found. This would be a nice feature though. Notice, I checked back after 11 days and found numerous responses to prior posts, but I was previously unaware of those replies. That makes it hard to participate in any kind of dialog, unless I just "hang out" on the NSP website all day every day, constantly rechecking for responses. Sorry, but as much as I love NSP, that won't happen.

I have asked our IT manager to look into this. Hopefully it is just a small setting tweak to fix.
